I have worked hard with my fellow moderators to generate a positive environment here and the level of negativity seen in that thread went very much against that.Įdit: As stated in a comment, I am hesitant to get involved any deeper on this one. At that time I removed the thread in hopes to stop the negativity from growing any further. You guys know who you are, and again I thank you for helping me snap back to reality. That being said, I am grateful that a few members of this sub were gracious enough to point out to me that this "hate bandwagon" was a bit extreme and that, while justice was certainly deserved, the bashing and harassment were not. I care a lot about this community and wanted to stand up for the hard-working authors who never get a penny.
I had been greeted by the author with hostility when I pointed out that what she was doing was illegal and unethical, and I let my anger towards this get the best of me. When the link to the kickstarter campaign was posted here, it wasn't too long before the comments snowballed into a "mob mentality" and I admit, with a bit of regret and shame, that I was very much at the forefront of said mob.
